When the Parade of Homes extends into Suwannee County for the first time this weekend, it will be greeted by a familiar builder.

GSMS Developers, which was part of past Parade of Homes, will have two homes in display on the east side of Live Oak in the Eagle Pointe subdivision.

Those homes, and the other six in Columbia and Suwannee counties, will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. The seventh annual new home construction showcase is co-produced by the Columbia County Builders’ Association and the Lake City Reporter.

The Platinum Sponsor for the second straight year is Lake City Title.

“We are elated to be included in the Columbia County Builders’ show being in Suwannee County with those products, it was a blessing for us to be allowed to participate in that,” said Milton Smith with GSMS Developers. “It was very encouraging they let us participate in this.”

Smith said the two homes he is showing in the Eagle Pointe neighborhood, at 10185 98th Pass and 10141 96th Place, will turn heads to those area residents that come out to look at the newest trends in home construction. A third home in the subdivision is also part of the Parade at 10174 96th Place. It is being built by Altman Construction.

“We believe that they’re absolutely beautiful, very spacious, well-designed homes on large, one-acre lots,” Smith said. “We’re betting big on people seeing the value of those homes.”

Smith said the Eagle Pointe development is similar to the Reserve in the large, spacious lots that provide families some room, while still enjoying the finest amenities of living near town.

Smith’s home on 98th Pass is a 2,926-square foot home with four bedrooms and two baths. The 96th Place home is a little more than 3,000 square feet and features three bedrooms and two baths.

Both, though, feature top of the line finishes and craftsmanship.

“Our homes always separate themselves with the quality of the materials and the workmanship and the design of our homes,” Smith said. “Those are proprietarily-designed homes with very open, spacious floor plans, designed specifically for the comfort of families with the woman of the house in mind, who enjoys that setting.

“I think everybody will be impressed.”

Other builders who will impress the thousands of people that take part annually in the Parade are IC Construction, Gibraltar Contracting, Bryan Zecher Homes and DWC Contracting.

“The Parade of Homes is a can’’t-miss event,” said Todd Wilson, publisher of the Lake City Reporter. “Every year our local builders really showcase beautiful homes in our community. Their craftsmanship is truly amazing. There are beautiful homes in several sizes and price ranges that are open and free to tour. We hope everyone will come out, meet the builders and enjoy this community event.”

Silver Sponsors for the Parade include First Federal Bank, IC Construction, Trent Giebeig Construction and Tri-County Tree Service.

“Our builders are still out there building homes and putting all the work in every day to build homes for us,” Lake City Title’s Rob Stewart said. “So to be involved with that and will new homes being built and new construction, for us it’s very exciting.”
